hello all I have the phantom 3 standard, I have a new Samsung cell phone I did a upgrade about a month ago, its the Samsung galaxy, when I use this new cell phone I don't have to put in the 1234 1234 before I fly my drone, I don't know why that would be, I have not flown for about a month, and I never got to try it with the new phone, but I did try it with out the props off, and I had the camera on and everything looked good, I had it in my living room, but of course I would not fly inside, the house, is the 1234 1234 all that important .to fly my phantom, on my old Samsung phone I had to use it all the time, just wondering what you all think, thanks,

Is it possible your settings, including wi-fi passwords, may have copied over during the upgrade? But then you stated you had to re-enter the password on your old phone.

To answer your question, yes the password is required to connect your device but is NOT required to fly. The device only provides video and telemetry. You can fly without your phone.
