G-sale drone, looks like 2 or 3 flights and back in the box for 10 years. Of course the flight battery is toast but the transmitter charged up just fine. My question to you all has to do with the missing camera. The very exotic looking gimbal device looks to have once had a Go Pro 3. Can I use any go pro camera or is this thing locked in on a specific variety. Thanks

I have the full range of the P2 (and the P1) quads, to answer your question

the 2.4ghz was built with the intention of using the Gopro as it has 5.8ghz wifi although the range on it is very limited, so people added the H3-2D or the H3-3D or the H4-3D gimbal which as the name suggest are built for the gopro 3 or 4, they are easy to wire into a P2 with minimum fuss, its getting hold of the parts that you need as they tend to be rare but still available with some searching.

Now for video transmission, everyone (search the p2 forum) used a 5.8ghz video system that comprised a transmitter on the quad wired into the H3/H4 gimbal assembly using a wiring harness and a suitable set of either 5.8ghz goggles or a screen.

Your biggest battle will be to find a battery for it, there are posts of people who have converted a P2 battery to a LIPO system with a little effort again search the foums for that.

Aloha and thank you for your reply. In reverse order, The battery case came apart clean and simple. the circuit board has quite a bit of wonky heat and corrosion issues surrounding the big wires from the batteries contacts. I'm not going down that road. I'll luck into a working battery somewhere down the road. The camera needs an equally simple solution Find a go pro camera that will plug in and leave the bird guts alone, :) Best regards

The acquired drone came to me with the H3-3D gimbal installed. There is a cable (with the odd, slightly fatter looking usb plug) hanging out of the drone body. I assume the original owner (or the gift giver) had ambitious intentions (or lots of money). ...But no camera. I have E-bayed a Hero-4 model camera candidate which will inch me forward with this project. I plan to find someone here in Hawaii with a healthy battery and beg him to cycle his battery in my drone to see if this thing has something like a brain and a heart to proceed with. Thank you for your attention to my project. I am a long time RC plane hobbyist , and I own 2 Mavic Airs and a DJI VR head set. Jimbo
