DJI is headquartered in China, That does not make them a communist. DJI is a business and everything that they do is for their own benefit. Does the government of China maintain tight control over the economy and it's people? Absolutely, they do. Does that mean that they are using DJI to collect data from drones, doubtful. When you think about it, what information from your drone would be important to anyone else? It's not that relevant.
If you are going to be worried about the "Communist Chinese", then you probably shouldn't carry a cell phone with you. There's a device made by the communists that can track your movement and record what you say and see.

Yes! Thats a very good analogy. Everyone has a cell phone and they do talk about everything. And I’m sure the NSA can monitor every call and text if they need to so that probably means the Chinese can do the same. My point in referring to the Chinese as communist was as noted is correct. The “private business” such DJI is most likely closely regulated and even spied on probably with DJI knowledge. That we’ll never know but as trendy as communists are tends to make them somewhat predictable.
My main distrust of DJI results in having dealt with their “Customer Service” department. I fought with them all of February trying to get them to simply tell me how my P4 flipped upside down and power dived Into the ground upside down? (TRY IT) The broken agreements, lies and false statements proved to me that they were not trustworthy and seem to have been very well trained and scripted how to handle their customers anytime one called in for help! They most always were unreachable, had to use a new number, transferred to someone else so you’d have to start over, and much more. They were indeed a well oiled machine intended to encourage a problem customer to give up and just go away!!! However I got the full treatment by continuing my follow ups. They suddenly just sent me a new P4 to shut me up (though refused to refund my payment to fix it). Then this new drone had the four springs that assist the propellers in locking in place removed! Not just missing but physically taken off, leaving the screws loose. It took me numerous more calls, emails, plus I had to send in a video actually showing these four CHEAP parts missing. Then after all that they finally mailed to me FIVE WEEKS LATER!!! Not overnight or similar but snail mail!
So as you can see I’ve had almost DJI’s full treatment and that alone would be enough to convince me. That DJI was not to be trusted and anyone who does is opening themselves up for a long frustrating fight.

Tell me - do you actually believe that the US federal government in the guise of the NSA, does not spy on US corporations which have business relationships with communist (well, socialist to be more accurate) China?

Poor customer service is a problem for all consumers and it seems with most companies. Kudos for your persistence.
I do not understand what you mean by not trusting DJI, they are a large corporation in business to make a profit. They should not be trusted any more or less than Comcast or Microsoft. Trust your family, trust your dog, but do not trust big business.
All consumer interactions with corporations are ultimately measured by the impact on their bottom line, usually they try to hide this with slogans like The-Customer-Comes-First but that is not real it is just marketing spin trying to sugar coat the relationship.

You know Customer service is bad when I’d rather pay locally to get my drone fixed that I’ve had 5 days than send it to the mothership. A guy online told me I had 14 days to return it. He was probably told to say that so I would miss the time frame. They only do a refund on unactivated drones?? That’s ridiculous. How would I know it was defective? They sold me a drone that was out of stock without telling me. I love the product but I will use a licensed third party on my next purchase.

You are having trouble telling DJI from the Chinese government.
DJI are in the business of making drones and selling them.
They are not communist and not trying to influence your country.
They are much more interested in making dollars and drones.

Every Chinese company is Chinese Government...you don’t know what communism is...this is amazing hearing this out of the blue..and I’m taking you serious, that you literally think Chinese companies are somehow divorced from Chinese Government. Do you know what communism is? It is Government central control of everyone and and everything...” for the good of the people”.
Even in France, which isn’t at all communist, but Socialist the companies are overseen by Government liaisons...I personally visited one such company and the Government minder was all over me the whole time...that’s in Paris...in China, it’s a notch more real where you as an American get followed around by Government minders even if you’re on vacation...how did you ever turn them into nice guys?
It sounds like you are decades out of date in your understanding of private enterprise in China and its political system in general. You should probably do some reading before you make any more comments on this subject.

Sarcastically throwing labels around accomplishes nothing other than to prove you have no idea what is going on in the real world. Being rude and insulting is not clever nor does it contribute anything positive to the topic we have been trying to discuss here.
That was true in 1983 when I visited Shanghai and we were followed around constantly and stayed in government owned hotels and used fake money that could only be spent in government owned businesses. Being in the military certainly raised our profile a bit and we were constantly being saluted.
I digress.
Fast forward to 2017 and that level of scrutiny is long gone, I was personally involved with doing business with privately owned companies when acquiring equipment for a new mine that we were building and whilst they still work under general Chinese government regulations and local 'council' guidance, they are essentially free to work under the usual capitalist rules. They love to drink and stay up late at night and there is quite a lot of bribery going on, but the deals are done and hence the plethora of billionaire Chinese men/women.
If you want to see communist government control in real action, visit either Vietnam or Cambodia. Then you would have a degree of relevance in some of your posts.
Things are a lot different in current times to how you are presenting them. China currently has 70% of business with private ownership employing 80% of the workforce. Yes, the biggest entities may be subject to government control however if you consider they are in banking, energy and similar essential service segments that might not be best driven by private investor return that is arguably a good thing.
