I tried my best to correct this video...using iMovie on my Mac mini. I only had an ND8 on me a the time and obviously it wasn't enough. I feel like I probably should have left it to auto instead. Anyway, looking for some constructive criticism. This is my 4th flight total with this machine, and I'm having a blast. Sad thing is my poor Spark has barely been used...I felt 15mph winds may have been a little too high for the little one, even though I have the proper filters for that one. Anyway...thanks in advance.

Phantom 4 Standard, Shot in 4K, 30FPS, Shutter at 1/60 and iso 100. CamKix ND8 filter installed.

Still looks nice! PolarPro has a decent app to help you select the right ND Filter, check it out HERE

Thanks! I do have the app...but I didn't have the filters. LOL. I skimped on it because I was being cheap and the ND8 wasn't enough for much. Incidentally, I ordered a set: ND16, ND32 & ND64.

LOL, I made the same mistake when I started using ND's a couple years back.

ND4 = 2 stops reduction
ND8 = 3
ND16 = 4
ND32 = 5

It’s basically a two to the f-stops power relationship.

What I usually do on my P3S is (in manual mode) set the shutter speed to 1/60 (for a framerate of 30) and ISO at 100. If I aim at the scene the display will tell me +3.0 EV or +1.7 EV or whatever. Those numbers mean how many stops over (or under) exposed you are. Then I use the closest filter often rounding up for a little more attenuation rather than less. I just got the P4P which lets me adjust aperature but I generally target for 5.6 (the reputed sweet spot).

Thanks Bill! Good info...

So the best way to do this is to get the drone up in the air, view the scene I am shooting and adjust from there? As you see, the beach and the yachts were all washed out...

In some cases you may not need to get up I. The air if the lighting is close to the same on the ground. I’m your video that would probably be tricky so you may need to get aloft to take a reading. Scenes like that are where the zebra stripes (over exposure warning) come in handy.
