New to the PhantomPilots forum. I just received my new dji Racing Edition Goggles and Ocusync Air unit and I’m wondering if is possible to modify my old dji Phantom 1 to get some FPV flying experience before risking a Mavic Pro or trying to learn on a racing drone. I’m thinking of hanging the Ocusync unit and its camera below the phantom on GoPro mounts, with the antennas out the backside and powering from the monitor wire of the flight battery? This wouldn’t provide any telemetry data, except maybe battery voltage? Another idea would be to modify the Phantom (w/ an X8R receiver?) to fly it with a FrSky Taranus X9D Plus flight controller which can be plugged into the HDMI of the RE Goggles. Has anybody out there ever done a modification like that on an old Phantom 1 that could provide some advice? Thanks.
