Noise

No. If you find something, let us know.

The weight and prop size that dictate the prop RPM is what influences the prop noise. Larger props that spin slower are the path to less noise.

The Mavic is light enough that the props can spin slower. Their new "quiet" prop style may find it's way into future Phantoms, but I don't expect much of an improvement with the same 9" prop size, given similar Phantom weight.

One of the most quiet drones on the market is the Q500 from Yuneec, about half the noise of a Phantom, but it's also slow, maxes out at about 17mph top speed. That craft uses 11" props that spin much slower.

I read that a bit of the sound comes from the prop tips passing so close on the inside of the X formed by 4 props, interference waves or something, so unless you could run as shorter prop, which would require more rpm, so self defeating.

Not that I have found. Sounds like an angry weedeater but it's a comforting sound when it comes home.

Yeah, when people ask me about it, I️ say that it sounds like an angry swarm of bees. Totally agree about the coming home thing.

Good to know! Thanks. That does make sense.
