You should get used to the compass which the DJI Go app has .. its great. not only orientation of the bird, but of how you are 'aiming' toward the bird. I love the compass feature in it.

How do you use it to aim at the bird?

You can keep it in RTH and speed it up by pushing the right stick forward...But maybe you understood this..

Are you sure? As you can see at the video, RTH was capped at 11 meters/sec and when I disabled it, it went to 15meters/sec.

Not totally sure it is AS fast as if you cancel it but I know it speeds it up...Mine goes from roughly 22 mph to 32 mph depending on wind...So about 4.5meters/sec faster by pushing the right stick forward in RTH...
