The led on the back of the Phantom won't light at all when powering up. The lights on the underside flash and I hear the start up sound, but no flashing led. When I plug it in to the usb port the Nazam program will not see it. It will, however fly.

Sounds like the LED board is either faulty or has gotten disconnected from the NAZA...you'll need to open the Phantom to inspect the connection. The LED board is also where the USB cable connects to the system internally, so that would explain both of your symptoms .
That was it. Seems like those connections should lock in place somehow. It's kind of a pain in the *** to take the thing apart.
