I want to reverse the left stick to allow my drone to ascend when I pull back on the stick and descend when stick is moved forward. After changing the control settings in custom mode and saving the setting, I am unable to start the propellers. Am I missing a step?

Welcome.

Since you changed the stick, you will need to also account for that change when you do the CSC for start up and put that stick in the opposite corner.
