Hello everyone,

Had a search through the various threads but didn't find a concise answer so I'm hoping solutions have maybe evolved since some of the last posts I read.

The drone has never been flown but I've used it numerous times indoors just with the rotors removed.

Drone Phantom 3 Professional

Problems:
1) I have full control of the drone but no video transmission to either my tablet or fat sharks. App states "No Signal" (Android) whilst still giving full control over settings, etc.

2) Tried to downgrade the firmware, followed the step by step guides on formatting SD cards, making sure the bin is on its own, etc (Normal process) but the drone beeps for a couple of minutes and then makes a continuous "noise" with the amber lights flashing (firmware update failure?)

Does anyone have a way i can recover back to a usable state?

Did the video ever work indoors? If so, when did it stop working?

Please tell us more about this. What exactly were you doing? About how long was your Phantom running during each indoor session?

I have seen many pros exhibiting this behavior, if you look in the hidden log on the SD card you will find devices 8 & 15 not detected. This is a hardware fault on the gimbal PCB that seems to be triggered by the drone being powered up for extended periods without airflow over the gimbal.

It can't be repaired by the user and will have to go to DJI for repair.

Having a look at the log file right now John and you've diagnosed it perfectly reading my fault codes:

[08 00] [15 00] are both Lightbridge System modules.

You may want to check serial numbers and see if somebody has tried mixing P3A and P3P parts on the drone.

Basically the Gimbal board is difficult to find, sometimes on eBay as part of a crashed drone or camera, however, there are a lot of them out there with this fault (I have 2!!)

Contact DJI Support and send it to them, probably most cost effective repair but will take time, or buy new or refurbished camera off DJI or eBay.

John

Thanks for the info gents, DJI sell the 4K camera for £259 at the minute.

I've messaged a few folks I found on google to see if anyone has a spare.

Other than not having the unit on for a prolonged time, is there any mods (cooling?) that can be done to help?

I have added some thermal compound between a couple if ICs and the case on the gimbal board, as there was just some cheap thermal pads there from the factory. Other than that, don't run your bird sitting still without a fan pointed at the gimbal area.

Guys, just to clarify, is it as simple as buying a new gimbal camera arrangement and "plugging it in"?

Just reading some more threads and people talk about the video module in the drone itself?

You will have to remove the 4 rubber feet and the 2 plastic pins holding the camera assembly to the plate on the bird, then unplug only 2 cables. These cables have a snap feature on the connectors, press the locking tab, and unplug. Reverse the procedure to install the new camera. If you buy the camera new, it comes with new rubber feet and locking pins. I would re calibrate the IMU and gimbal when finished.

I managed to source a replacement professional camera which should be here this week.

My questions:
1)Not sure what state the drones firmware is now in with my buggering about - is there a safe way to make sure I install the latest version?

2)Other than putting a fan in front of the drone and connecting the new camera should I do anything else to make sure I don't damage it again?

Thanks.

Pro camera came today (bought it for £220 off someone on eBay 2nd hand) so just plugged it in half an hour ago - all problems resolved. Now if I'm adjusting settings I'm just going to keep it in front of the fan. Drone and controller firmware both updated without issue once the camera was functioning. Thanks gents. :D;)
