New antenna

Hell I decided to upgrade my controller antenna to 5 dbi omni directional
Well while I was cutting away the caulk to remove old rp sma - ufl I cut the little brass ring on the board
The pin was still good but not sure if that ring was something of significance or just to hold ufl cable
Any input would be appreciated

That ring is connected to the coax shield, yes, it's required.
