Is that a microsd slot there (left of center)?

No, that's where the plug part of the phone cable goes so that the arms can fold while the included microUSB connector is attached.

Note the two little blobs on the left side. That's the cable connected to the microUSB port the exposed part rests inside that hole so it can fit.

My only concern with the controller is that it blocks the iPhone home button.. they could have made a small cut out to access that and not harmed the grip function..

According to the pictures there are 2 usb ports , one on the left side where you connect the included mini usb to mini usb or lighting connector to connect your phone and charge the remote (clearly detailed in the pictures) and then there is the center usb connector, what is this used for?
