Map vs radar?

Never really felt the need to use the map as opposed to the radar display in the lower left corner. If I use a non cellular tablet will I still get the radar location identifier in the lower left? I know the map view will not work unless pre loaded.

Yes. The data used for that display comes from the aircraft.

As a note to add. Always ensure that your aircraft is facing in the direction that the icon indicates. ( The maps help with this ), prior to take off to ensure your compass is functioning properly.
