Lighting to USB Micro Cable to connect device to PS3 R/C

I know this has probably been asked on here at some point before but I am quite new to this site/P3S and cant seem to find anything.

Is it possible to connect my iphone 6s plus to my controller via a cable and therefore miss out the WiFi connecting bit?
