Is the P4 too much for a newbie?

I have several FPV (indoor and backyard type) quads and two larger ones (P4 is one). With the large ones you can be lulled into complacency because they are easy to fly. With the small drones, I am forced to give 100% of my focus. This one you can fly it up, set the control down, and go get a snack (you shouldn't though). I don't consider flying the P4 to be "piloting" and feel "operating" is a honest term. With the small ones, you are definitely piloting.

Get up higher than the nearest obstacles and only fly with GPS and you should be ok. The max speed is 45 or something in sport mode but I never go above 35 or so and only do that if I am above everything in the area. Always assume it will crash and pick your routes accordingly.

Your biggest risk is setting too low of a return to home route. Lets say you lose contact and it returns too close to trees and hits a branch (its system can have issues with branches). Set return altitude to at least 50ft over nearest obstacle.
