I recently did a firmware update to a brand new DJI iOSD mini to Firmware version 4.0 using the iOSD Assistant Software version 4.1, it now says I have a mis-match.

I did some web research and found a very old thread at heli-freak that describes my issue, I should not have done the upgrade as the current version of Assistant loads an incompatible version of iOSD firmware.

Does anyone have the older version of iOSD Assistant Software (version 4.0), apparently this will allow me to downgrade the Firmware in the iOSD to version 1.06

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure if older assistant will help; but let's assume it does.

Then, let me search that for you:
4.0:
3.03:

Are these links legitimate? No, I wouldn't trust them completely. Install in a VM first. Though looks ok at first glance.

You might also want to improve your skill at searching. Google is no longer worth using in many cases, remember to always try alternate search engines.

Thanks for the links, I had found the German site but somehow missed that they had the 4.0 version (haven't tried it yet). The software informer site is pretty useless, doesn't seem to actually point to any actual installer packages and is sketchy enough that I don't ever use it. The funny thing about this whole process is that the DJI folks pointed me to the Software Informer Site as source for the installer, it took a couple of days of communication with DJI support to be told by a higher level Tech. Support Engineer that they have no longer have access to the older software and that I was out of luck.

I am able to use the iOSD and see flight data on my Black Pearl even though the firmware is a mis-match, I just can't move any of the data fields on the display screen so it ain't perfect but it didn't brick it.

New info for rolling back iOSD Firmware using a iOSD Assistant back door. I got the info from a very old post over at RCgroups, credit to user EdinTN

DJI mini iOSD Firmware update problem

Yes, a big no no from DJI......just installed the mini iOSD and first thing..... comes a window asking you to download the latest Firmware....it also says what it improves on the A3 and N3 controllers.....BUT IT DOES NOT SAY THAT THE NEW FIRMAWARE WILL ONLY WORK ON THE A3 AND N3 CONTROLLERS!!!!... and will render all others controllers useless.

Be careful, I also found a youtube video about a guy blaming the firmware "mis-match" from iOSD status the cause of his drone NAZA M V2 controller went berserk and crashing the drone.

Now, the SOLUTION for that is to roll back the Firmware, there is no explanation no where in how to do that, you will need email DJI and wait few days to get a reply...so save some time and try this:

Hook up powered drone iOSD to PC, open iOSD Assistant Software, click on "i" Info tab

Click at the Firmware, that will open a window "Firmware Upgrade"....you will see in green bellow right "Download successfully!" and in Blue "Refresh".........

DON'T CLICK on anything, instead type "door" on your keyboard

That will open another window asking for username and password, type "104" for username and "104" for password

That will open another Firmware Upgrade window that will allow you to roll back to the Version 1.04 that works with all controllers.

Funny thing is that at end of the email they suggest to not broadcast the info, really? they should put the fix at their web site! Guess having the bugs is good to keep the Support personal employed !! shame, why just don't put in red letters - THIS UPGRADE IS ONLY FOR A3 and N3 controllers???

Hope that helps someone......it took me days searching the Net with no real solution.

On these sites you have to always make sure you've downloaded what you wanted and not some kind of "downloader".

I downloaded it. While I didn't run it, and it could be modified, the file does seem legit:
* has size little below the 4.1 version from DJI website (expected)
* starts with "FastMM Borland Edition" copyright, like the 4.1 (so was built with the same tools)
* Doesn't have any obvious malware attached at start or at end
* Files have identical PE headers

I followed the process using the current version of iOSD Assistant and typed in 106 and 106 for user and PW, it upgraded (downgraded) the v4.x back to v1.06. I now have access to the screen that allows you to move your flight data info to better fit the Display window. I will post an update after I try moving stuff. woo hoo and no brick of iOSD (yet ;))

I missed your reply, I will take another stab at finding the correct "Download" button. I am happy that I found this backdoor method in any case. I appreciate your work too.

Yay, rolling the iOSD mini back to version 1.06 solved the problem, I have successfully used the Assistant Software to reposition the data fields on my LCD display. Bottom line, if you are using iOSD mini and a Phantom 2 I don't recommend updating the iOSD firmware beyond 1.06.

If anyone has found a way to get to v3.x firmware into the iOSD mini and still have usable screen configuration via the Assistant Software, please reply with info on how you did it.
