Hi, I have had my Phantom 3 Pro for a few years now but not got round to using it much it's been stuck in the box for the past couple of yrs. I got it out the other day to brush the dust off, anyway the motors will not run, I get an error message "Sensor Bias too large, place aircraft on a flat surface and perform IMU calibration." So what is IMU calibration and how do I do it ? Thanks in advance.

Hi many thanks for your reply, I will have a go as soon as I can.
You are very welcome.

Don't be in a big hurry to get back airborne. Do your preflight checks, have batteries at full charge, props tight, etc. Do NOT do a firmware update unless it is absolutely necessary to fly. Many times firmware updates do more harm than good. Since it has been a couple years since you've flown, take your time and review flight controls and app settings.

If you have any other questions or concerns, just ask away.

I remember the IMU getting stuck on these units, you need to power off the unit take off the top shell and give the the IMU a sharp hard tap to free it up

Hi Still not got this sorted, have not tried firmware update or IMU calibration as yet. But I have had these messages, "Aircraft is in Attitude mode, so that it will not hover. Please fly with caution" Also another message "Accelerometer Bias too large. Restart aircraft. Contact DJI support if this persists". But I can't fly anyway because the prop won't turn. Can anyone tell me what's going on ? Thank you.

Thats because it has no GPS lock
Please fly with caution" Also another message
Hencee why it shows this message
"Accelerometer Bias too large. Restart aircraft.
As i suggested take the shell top off and give the IMU a hard tap and then follow the advice of Captainmilehigh

Just done IMU calibration but still no response from motors, I don't really want to take the top off to hit it with something. Has any one any more suggestions ?

Did the IMU complete the calibration successfully?

Does the screen on the GoApp say 'Ready to Fly'....or 'Safe to Fly'? Are you using the sticks correctly to start motors.......

We need a bit more info to continue.....like maybe...are you in a 'no fly zone'?

Plus, if the drone and the batteries have been 'stuck in the box' as you said for a few years, I doubt if the batteries are any good. Have they been recharged on both drone and r/c?

Sorry for all the questions, but the MORE info you can give us, the better the diagnosis and possible solutions will be.

Hi, according to the info on the Dji Go app. Calibration was successful, the motors are turning ok now, but sometimes the camera will not connect, and there is no signal between the controller and the drone. When it does connect I get a message saying controller is in Attitude mode and will not hover, fly with caution. I don't know what Attitude mode is or how to change it.

If you have been able to start the motors the controller and drone must have been connected.

If the controller is in Atti Mode, you change that with the flight mode switch on your controller.

Atti Mode (the A position on the switch) disengages the drone's horizontal position holding.
In Atti Mode, the drone can drift on a breeze or you can drag the drone around without it fighting to stay in position as it would in P Mode.

The Batteries charge up ok and seem to hold charge, when I turn the controller and drone on they power up ok and I get a Green light on the controller to indicate it's connected to the drone. I click on the Dji App and a screen comes on, I click on the camera but the screen say's Disconnected, but the motors run when I turn them on. The camera doe's not connect. Also moving the flight switch mode lever doesn't seem to do any thing. This is a pic to show "disconnected" but the motors run.

Does the gimbal dial on the R/C (top left side) move the camera up or down when turned (when drone and r/c are powered up-ready to fly?)

If not, the ribbon cable/flex cable may be damaged. Ribbon cables are extremely fragile and are prone to issues.

If you replace the ribbon cable, be sure to use ONLY DJI OEM parts. There are many aftermarket knockoffs out there that look the same.......but they rarely work as designed.

The ribbon cable is part # 49, and comes in a smoke colored tinted package from DJI.

The screen shot of the app screen leads me to believe that the app itself is not connected to the drone/RC. There are no aircraft battery levels, etc.......so,

Have you checked the USB cable from the R/C to the device you are using? .....or maybe swap the cable out to a new or known working USB cable?

Hi, the camera moves up and down with the control, The cable is a new data cable witch transfers data as well as charge the battery on the tablet. It worked just fine a couple of days ago but it won't work now. The lights on the drone are, Front, steady Red. Rear, Flashing Yellow for a minute then turn to flashing Green. Is this the right pattern ?

I have just had a look on Y/T. and saw this suggestion, so I tried it, and it worked, I now have camera connection. and all seems fine. Hope this helps others.

Hi , Please try reset the RC by this way : press the C1 + C2 + video recording buttons, keep them pressed and turn off the controller. Then ,keep the C1 + C2 + video recording button pressed and turn the controller on . If that doesn't work , please contact your dealer or support center .

That's great to hear.

If you don't have a copy of the owners manual for the 3 Pro, I suggest you download one. They are free to download from the DJI site, or others like 'Phantomhelp.com'.

If not familiar with Phantomhelp.com, it is a site by forum member 'msinger'. It is LOADED with everything Phantom. Just navigate to the model you have, and there you will find page after page of parts, how-to's, and other useful information.

Best of luck. 👍👍
