I want a weather station setup

Thank Porky, it's his dang gear that has me looking for yet more 'stuff'! LOL!
Here is a link to a comparison and rating page. Sure like the Davis Vue but can't get past the additional couple hundred to get it to automatically report online. - http://ambientweather.wikispaces.com/Weather+Station+Comparison+Guide

Hey Porky, why are barometers absent on many of these stations? Barometer sensors are not that expensive these days... is it just that 'accurate' ones are expensive? I feel that the barometer is a needed tool in current and near future weather forecasting.

Hi all,

Just got in from work;)

Need a coffee & fooooood. I will then check all the posts & answer them one by one;)

Hope you all are ok with that;)

Just had a quick look... Not to many posts:)

I know Davis equipment can be pricey but you only get what you pay for.

I agree. You can buy a Vantage Pro 2 for around $450 online if you look around. I tried several brands over a couple years and ended up with the Davis Vantage Pro 2, USB cable and VWS internet edition. I could not be happier with it.

Heres a great price on the Davis but it will cost a bit more to get the data online without your input. I am looking for one with a 'bridge' so it is seamless. It has some nice features. http://www.ambientweather.com/dain62vavuew.html

I'll get you for this Porky! When I buy something I research the hell outta whatever it is, socks, I don't care, so guess who hasn't got much work done lately.

That weather station is very good when I PM' ed ya last week that was one that I recommended to ya.

With the software side of things, don't make it to complicated;) you just need Davis weatherlink if you buy a Davis station;) you will be able to see it on your PC also if you wanted to put it on the net;) I also use a software program called "weather Display" this program has been built around a lot of weather stations but more so for Davis.

Hope the above makes sense..... I'm lost!;);)

TJ,

Very good link, yep Im the same as you when I see something gotta get me teeth into it before I buy;) nothing like buying something then you find out its crap......;)

Right barometers....... All weather stations should give you air pressure from the cheapo ones right up to the high end ones;) when you setup your station one of the procedures will be to set the air pressure (barometer) again you set this up to your nearest meta station or you use a isobar chart & do it that way;)

I use all Macs, but I do have a Windows based tablet for better GroundStation control over the iPad app I could use. My biggest concern is extra cost to get it accessible online.
So if I got this - http://www.ambientweather.com/dain62vavuew.html
What 'weather link' product would I need to make it web connected?

So it seems after some more digging that Mac users have an affordable all in one program to do what your two links do - http://www.weathersnoop.com/home/
And it supports Davis along with many others including the high end makers. Happy! :)

So there is a Mac version, of course it is another $165. I see that is how they get ya, all the extras. ;)

And then theres this...

Important Note About This Product
Unlike the Windows versions, the Mac version does not log data from leaf wetness, soil moisture, UV or solar radiation sensors. It also does not include Citizen Weather Observer Program or GLOBE Program capabilities, and may not be used with E-Mail/Phone Alert or Agricultural/Turf Management Modules.
