I saw a battery blow up

on Youtube and it inspired me to make a charging station that will hopefully reduce the chance of burning down my house in the unlikely event of a blow. Made it from scrap stuff around the shop and had a friend hook me up with the 1/8" aluminum inside liner. Makes it pretty handy to charge everything up and it super easy to take it all out put it in the hard case for travel.

That gives you some degree of protection in four directions. What about directly up or out the front? I got a multi charger and I run it undercover outside, closest combustible material is 5m away.

After watching a bunch of videos of batteries blowing, I figured most of the heat is fairly centralized. I will have 6' clear in front and top at all times and I wanted something convenient and easy to move everything to the case. I am all up for suggestive improvements but just want to share the first one. It must be better than nothing. I will not worry as much at least.

There finally is a commercial solution available. In the past cinder blocks, lined ammo boxes, and lipo bags have been used.
I just purchased 2 of these primarily for my 12S-4000mah airplane packs but will also use with my DJI batteries:

Do I need to be keeping my batteries in some sort of fireproof box when they charge? And if so what about when they are stored?

You have to do what makes you content. My local hobby shop has about 1000 LiPo batts on shelf.
So storage is not a real concern. Charging and damaged cells from crash, etc. are the real dangers and when the overwhelming majority of accidents (fires) can occur.
