The only problem with that method is that I'm usually trying to buy them from pictures and the silver sticker reflects gold under light. I have found that I have to ask for the model number of the drone and the controller to make sure I'm getting what I think I'm getting.
I got a good deal on a V1 last week but on Tuesday I found a V2 on Facebook for a good price....the props were V2.....the sticker was gold. It was listed as a V2. I took a long drive to buy it without asking questions...... It was a V1. The seller had lifted the photos off the internet instead of using his own. I have learned my lesson.
Pictures are not the way to go sometimes.
There are many phantom owners that for some reason are convinced they have a V2 when in fact they don’t and have been flying a V1 since they have had it. There has been a claimed V2 ad on Craigslist for some time now that the owner is just waiting to catch someone that doesn’t know better.
