how to switch phantom v1.1.1.1 frame from stock

Is there a frame that we can purchase today that allows us to take the phantom stock plastic housing off and put the guts into another frame like this one bellow

is there a weight disadvantage? why are more people doing it? makes it allot easier to mod with everything open
