i purchased a used GL300C controller to use with my Phantom 3 Pro Drone. i am having trouble getting the camera to connect with the controller through the app . i can control the Drone motors. wondering if i need to reset the controller somehow so that it looks for my drone and not the drone it was once working with? any suggestions?

"GL300C controller"?
I see this a lot, is this not a normal controller for a P3A, P3P?

Rod ..
The main difference between the DJI Phantom 3 Standard and the Advanced/Professional controllers lies in the transmission system and overall build quality. The Advanced and Professional models use DJI's Lightbridge technology for a stronger signal and longer range, while the Standard relies on a standard WiFi connection. The Advanced/Professional controllers also feature a more robust build and potentially better ergonomics.

Phantom 3 Standard Controller:
  • WiFi Connection: Uses a standard WiFi connection for video transmission to the DJI Go app.

  • Range: Limited range compared to Lightbridge, typically around 1000 meters (3280 feet).

  • Build Quality: Generally considered less robust and may feel more plasticky compared to the Advanced/Professional controllers.

  • Features: Includes a mobile device holder.
Phantom 3 Advanced/Professional Controllers:
  • Lightbridge Technology:
Employs DJI's Lightbridge system for a more reliable and longer-range video transmission (up to 5km).

  • Range:
Offers a significantly longer range (up to 5km) and a more stable connection, especially in areas with interference.

  • Build Quality:
Features a more premium build, potentially with better ergonomics and more durable materials.

  • Features:
May include a more advanced mobile device holder for tablets and larger phones.

  • Compatibility:
The Advanced and Professional controllers are backwards compatible with each other, but neither is compatible with the Standard controller.

While Lightbridge has a sub-band for control/telemetry packets, the radio communication works as a whole. So "incorrectly linking" it so that you only get control+telemetry and not video, is not possible (as opposed to Ph3 Std). If it linked, it linked correctly.

So, your issue is somewhere else. Not in "linking".

i am having trouble getting the camera to connect with the controller through the app

In Ph3 Pro, camera is not a part of radio link (again as opposed to Ph3 Std). Camera sends the stream to OFDM Transceiver which implements the Lightbridge link.

The actual communication goes: camera --> OFDM board --> antennas --> GL300 main board --> GL300 interface board --> USB cable --> mobile device.

So the statement that your issue is with "getting the camera to connect with the controller" seem to be your opinion rather than description of the situation. Or did you really get an error message while linking?

Well, if that opinion is true, then @captainmilehigh provided the most likely reason for it with the attachment.
