Well I up graded my antenna to the 5dbi. My range jumped up to 3000-3500ft then my FPV goes out. After watching video the cam shoes it holding its position. So I'm thinking I still had control just no FPV. I guess I'll add another 5DBI to FPV antenna.
I am doing this at my inlaws ranch. Wide open area. 3500ft is the farthest I have ever gotten. The stock antenna was 1400 max.

When you say the flat side are you talking about the flat side of the ring at the base of antenna???

If you put a Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut on the antenna, the place where doughnut is would be where you have the signal. So the top and bottom is where you have worse signal.
