Has anyone else seen the video of the person that flew his p3s under a blue angles flight....

Wow you really get worked up lol, Pensacola IS a no fly zone so don't fly your drone there..
After further investigation, this is located in a National Park so take offs & landings are prohibited and in Restricted Use Airspace so unless there was special permission was gained from the controlling agency this was a risky flight.

Darn it, this is what Altitude Angel says about it, "Gulf Islands (US NATIONAL PARK) Gulf Islands is categorised as "US NATIONAL PARK". National Park This area is identified as a National Park and is to be regarded as a no-fly zone by drone operators."

Sorry thought it was in the first post... it's just so wrong..... what a moron this guy is..

why don't we allow the FAA and other appropriate agencies to decide who's an idiot and more importantly who's a criminal. I promise you, it may not be as flagrant or intentional, but each and every one of us has broken one rule or another when flying. please show us something appropriate to the forum.

The video is great, but I'm sure you know the reasons many are so uptight.

Some see this as self policing rather than having guv-mint taking action and/or tightening the rules due to "violations" like this.

Whereas we have our rights endowed by our "Creator" here in the US, those "rights" don't extend to US airspace.

................. Some see this as self policing.............
This. In the beginning, the concept of self-policing seemed like a no-brainer. However, we soon learned that most of those breaking the rules don't appreciate being called out on it. A few even get very hostile. Then arguments ensue. 90% of the members have no problem with the rule-breakers. The 10% that do get shouted down and called Nazis. It becomes a flustercuck. So the concept of self-policing is probably not going to work out as was originally thought. Who knew?!

Guy posted a video flying his p3s under a large cargo aircraft that was escorting a blue angles jet in Florida on Pensacola Beach...... What an idiot.... No wonder why we are being handcuffed with so many regulations.......
Without reading every single comment on this video, I believe this was the "missing man" flight bringing home the Blue Angel who died in Smyrna, TN, my home town.

And yes... using a drone in that location at that particular moment was totally stupid and disrespectful. Land the drone, take off your hat, put your hand over your heart (ya, I know, the anthem wasn't being played, and be respectful.

I don't see the video as a tribute to USMC Capt. Kuss. More like a tribute to a tribute.

Also, wrong tool for the job. There's not much value in using a drone for a shot like this. The altitude advantage of a drone perspective was limited to not that much better than filming from the pier.

A stable ground camera would have used better glass and added sound.

20 seconds of interesting footage stretched into a 3 minute video with irritating music is not a tribute.

I didn't see any problems with his flight
For sure he was under the 400 feet .

The Phantom is like 50' off the deck. It's lower than the building in the background! The Phantom is stationary, well-below the aircraft which is clearly flying a straight & level line. I expected to see someone flying below a Blue Angels performance which would have been a different story but I just don't see the issue here.

I don't see the issue except for potentially flying over people on the beach. The jet and cargo aircraft flying up the beach is something that could not be anticipated unless the flight plan was made available in advance.

That didn't appear to be a problem, his Height was constant at a much lower level than the flyover. Fantastic piece of commemorative video IMHO, far better than any News footage taken too !

Hello, I am the one who flew the drone and posted the linked video. After seeing all the discussion on the legality of this video, I feel there is a lot more work to be done on the laws and information about our great hobby.

When the Blue Angels flew over I was 50 feet above the ground on casino beach. Casino beach is a public beach and not inside the National Park. I was also over 5 miles away from any airport.

Aircraft fly above, and below each other everyday without chaos. That is why we fly below 400 feet. I will admit I would have preferred to be further back from their flight to ensure absolutely no problems. I did not know exactly where they were going to be.

Being a new drone pilot I was shocked to see the amount of anger and outrage I received from this video. Instead of providing information and ways to help me become more knowledgeable, I received hate. I will continue to fly my drone in a safe manner, but I will stop being a part of a community that does not treat others with respect.

Wasn't under anything.... That was misleading.

Didn't give way.... Umm seriously the guy is about 50 feet off the ground. Is clearly nowhere even close to being an issue. FCOL. He was lower than the top of the buildings.

Flying over people... Nope that is not apparent from the video either.

The only issue, which is absolutely not apparent from simply watching the video, is the national park. Yep he broke the rules if he lifted off from a national park.

Just not at all what I expected to see. Click bait for sure.
