H3-3D Grinding

I just installed an H3-3D on the original Phantom 2 and cannot get the gimbal to work.
When I turn on the Phantom, the gimbal moves around and then tries to tilt up but stops 2/3 of the way up and starts to grind, then it drops down and tries to tilt up again with the grinding noise.
I see that there is an update on DJI but it's only for windows.

Any help would be appreciated.
