Ground station for PV2

Does anyone have any idea when the ground station firmware will be released ?

Nope. The DJI press release stated end of December. They have a bit of a habit of letting deadlines slip, so I think the best estimate is "soon".

I'm eagerly awaiting it as well! Hopefully soon. I have a feeling toward the end of January it will be released.

I have just seen this old news on DJI website.

They have updated it with a new date for the release

Now it says February 2014

If you read carefully, it says the raw upgrade is coming in Feb 2014, but the Ground Station upgrade is coming around Feb, 2014, so it may be delayed longer.

We are very excited to announce that with a firmware update, the Phantom 2 Vision will be able to capture and store pictures in Adobe DNG RAW format in-camera. The update will be released in February, 2014.

Additionally, a separate firmware and mobile phone App update will be released providing the Phantom 2 Vision with Ground Station capabilities including waypoint editing and autonomous waypoint navigation. The update will be released around February, 2014.

has there been any mention of cost? Im assuming there is hardware to be purchased as well no?

Nope. Firmware & app upgrade, apparently. The Vision already has a 2-way data link so nothing to add.

so it will only go as far as the wifi reaches?

Don't know. If there's some memory lurking somewhere on board then it might be able to use that to store instructions. Maybe the sd card in the camera? Or maybe it's just the phone doing the work and sending control inputs via the wifi. Only another month to wait... :roll:

The website has been updated again and now says "will be released soon" for both the RAW DNG format and Ground Station capabilities. With the camera update already out, maybe the other is almost ready....
