FPV monitor mounting options

I have to second OI Photography's recommendation from http://uav.ravecreative.co.uk/

I have one of these and it is brilliant in its simplicity and effectiveness, plus the tripod screw that attaches to the monitor has a fold out loop to which you can attach a second clip for your lanyard. Having two clips like this makes my controller sit nice and level pretty much all the time.

Peter,

A couple of questions if I may.

Would a strap offset work for balance do you think?

Can it be quickly removed so as to keep the transmitter in a case?

Thanks,

Tom

I'm not sure what you mean by "strap offset", Tom; all I can say that my Black Pearl is much better balanced by the use of two lanyard fastenings, one clipped to the controller's 'eye' and the other clipped to the foldaway eye on the mount's tripod screw.

The mount is computer printed so the plastic is not really suitable for repeated fixing and unfixing. Mine stays on all the time and fits in my case, no problem.

You can see what I mean in this post :

Peter,

Thank you for the reply.

What I ment by the offset is a piece that attaches to the lanyard clup on the transmitter and extends about an inch and a half toward the top of the TX with several holes in it to connect the strap to get a good balance.

Will the bracket with monitor off turn around to the back of the Tx so as to not make such a high profile to use in a case?

Thanks again,

Tom

Oh, OK, I see.

If you use two clips on the lanyard you don't need the offset piece and you get perfect balance.

The bracket doesn't turn around but, in the case, I have the controller on its edge, between the quad and the side of the case; like that, the bracket fits nicely under the quad's rear left rear arm.

Purchased the Rave FPV mount because of its clean look and the price seemed fair.

Rave mount- Nice option now that I've received it and put it on. The simple aspect work great. I like it.

hi all : if I may weigh in on this , I have tried them all , I have found the best solution for an 8" monitor is by "rave " in the uk ,
I have 2 phantoms , one with a gopro 3+
1 vision 2 , and I either use my ipad on a tripod or my iphone
the gopro 3+ uses a black pearl monitor with that mount and is sweet , not to heavy as compared to before with the separate rx & battery , can shoot you pics if you want ,,

terrible mount, i have had nothing but problems with this....

Best way is get a light stand and a arm clamp and attach monitor to light stand then you dont have to have monitor at waist level or carrry monitor on controller. u can stand and look straight at monitor and u can even hang the remote on the stand with lanyard while doing other things. i find a monitor on the controller to be the worst idea for FPV, but thats just me, you also have to always look down at controller and monitor, with light stand or tripod you look straight, better on neck too.

The monitor can be removed whenever I like thanks to the clip.
The only thing I regret is that it has the "curved" GoPro sticky mount, because I stuck the flat one to my car windshield.
Not willing to shell out $25 for more GoPro sticky mounts right now.
Oh and the tripod adapter is actually AEE (GoPro's competition) but they are almost the same.

Ah, I like your mount. Compact and neat.
I am using this

Bought it off amazon.com
