Flight with only 3 working motors

So i saw this Ted talk about drones. Where among other things, they demoed how the software could keep the drone somewhat flying even after one of the props/motor stopped working.
I wonder if DJI has plans to introduce this in the phantoms one day. Would make the drone somewhat reciverable if something like that was to happen.

Thrust to weight will be an issue. It takes 2 motors on opposite corners to keep from flipping. Any thrust from the third motor will attempt to flip the drone, you can spin it to counter the flipping, but you can only spin so fast.

Would be a great safety feature.
Shouldn't really be hard to do via software.
1 detect motor issue
2 compensate using other 3 motors
