So i know how this works, but i can't believe the is no way to override this. Can someone explain it? I am CE and the distance is so low.

Your Phantom will auto set that setting based on its GPS location.

You cannot override the Phantom's GPS location. Nor can you manually toggle that setting elsewhere.

Never tried it but believe there should be an indoor startup method that bypasses GPS

Have heard that enclosing GPS antenna with aluminium/copper is enough to disable it.
On the other hand, what happens when there is GPS signal loss in flight?
