I've noticed I can send the phantom up to 1000' in no time. However, the descent is significantly slower. I know it can't be too slow or the drone could become unstable and drop. Still, is there a way to speed up the descent, or a configuration to change in Assistant?

Also, are there any reputable batteries that offer more than 5200mAh?

Descending very slowly is okay. Descending too quickly though is what will cause your Phantom to become unstable and uncontrollably drop from the sky (VRS).

There are a handful of non-OEM batteries. Limefuel is one of the more popular batteries.

How slow?
Did you compare with the speeds DJI give in the specifications for your model?
P2 series
Max Ascent / Descent Speed
Ascent: 6m/s; Descent: 2m/s
P3
Ascent: 5m/s; Descent: 3m/s

No .. it's locked in.
