I would like to record my OSD data. I know many are doing this and I think a *good* recording might also have a place in some produced footage.
I know this has been discussed - I've found links to summaries and such but they are all either out-of-date or miss the mark.
Here is one suggested link: https://www.google.com/search?q=portable+dvr
Unfortunately, almost everything that comes up is a camera with no video in or a very expensive alternative.
I tried an EzCap and the darn thing failed after the first flight - it wouldn't even come up on my good laptop. Trying to get the seller to take it back right now - although it did come with two nice video plugs that were worth the price of the whole thing. The EzCap also had a poor video balance - I ended up maxing out the brightness and contrast and still had poor video. You are tied to the laptop with it. However, it DOES work for some. Here is a short video that I took with it - it kinda shows several drawbacks.

Helipal has a $129 solution that is a receiver and DVR combined. The say it isn't much but it works. Anyone purchased one? The link to it is here: http://www.helipal.com/airy-2-5-all-in- ... order.html It records in 640 but it also can be used as a ground monitor.
I found a really cheap DVR on eBay, it is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130937804818?ss ... 1423.l2649 Unfortunately it only records at 640. It is cheap, though (did I say that?) so I ordered one just to check it out.
I also found a couple of nice solutions by scrounging around Amazon and getting a couple of links from some questions I had. These are $200-$300 solutions for the most part but they are also nice DVRs and likely to last. The first is a Lawmate you can see it at: http://www.amazon.com/DVR-Button-Camera ... awmate+dvr and the next was found by asking a question on Amazon. However, they are horribly over-priced. They are offering a MUVI for $109 which can be purchased for less than $50. You can see it here: http://stuntcams.com/shop/advanced_sear ... =2a&page=2
So... anyone have a link to a fairly nice dvr for a reasonable price?
