Hello, i managed to crash my drone into a tree and it fell 10 meters to the ground, the impact made the battery fall off and crack. the gimbal guard saved my camera and i got minor scratches on the drone! i was super lucky nothing more got destoryet.
but do you guys think i still can use the battery if i only put the aluminium thing back again?
So it dropped 30+ feet on to train rails and the guard saved the camera obviously It would have been in pieces otherwise. I think with the flexibility, if the guard flexes or is pushed up in the crash, it looks like it creates a cradle for the camera. Did the camera mount on the shell break?
As far as the battery, I would charge it up and check the cells first. Then if it looks good put the props on and let it hover a couple meters off of the ground for a few minutes while you watch the cells really close for the first flight. Make the call on your own for the battery. If it has swollen in any way I would get rid of it. I had the metal pop on one of my batteries after a crash but the battery is fine and I've used it a bunch with no problems. It had a red light after the crash and after I charged it up everything reset and it looks like new with no scratches even.
