Does anyone use a regular size iPad mounted on a tripod?

So I've been flying my P3S with my iPhone 6s Plus which is decent sized but I cannot imagine trying to mount anything bigger on the remote. It's barely stable with the iPhone.

So my plan is to use the iPad Air 2 I already have, I ordered an adapter and a tripod. Going to just bring it with me when I am doing more serious flying and get a good visual.

Does anyone else do this? Any pros/cons?

Not with an iPad, but with an Nvidia Shield K1.

Pros
  • Tablet isn't attached to Tx, making it less heavy to hold
  • Don't have to worry about it slipping off the tablet holder
  • Depending on tripod, you can adjust the tablet viewing height
Cons
  • Extra gear to carry
  • You have to move the tripod depending on where you're flying (behind you, etc.)

I also have one of these tripods for my 27" monitor. I haven't taken it out yet, as the #1 con above has prevented me. One day I will though, lol.

I've seriously thought about using a tripod for my tablet but with the addition of the HDMI out module I will be using a 2nd video device (small TV ) and it will have to go on a tripod mount. Great info RadRich :)

Having an external monitor is great for large groups, but more importantly, for yourself. It will be powered by a 12v DC to AC power inverter.
