I want to buy a used drone and I was wondering is buying a DJI Mavic 2 air over Phantom 4 better? Or another way around? My budget is about 300-400$ and size does not matter.
Hi @Jp24, I think the Phantom 4 is probably a better option, but I am a bit biased as I only own Phantoms The Phantom 4 has a better camera for low light conditions, is more robust, has more wind resistance, and has a pretty cool iconic white body, plus other advantages
Will anyone at your location be offended by noise? If so than the Air 2 would be a better choice. I own both an A2 and P4Ps and know there's advantages to both.
I have P4, that I have had for a long time, and which was replaced by DJI for a few hundred dollars last year, when it had a problem. It is a solid machine. Problem is, that DJI is now no longer supporting it. If anything goes wrong, you will need to find a 3rd party to fix it, which could be tough. Mine had a camera/gimbal problem. The video coming from the machine was unstable and pretty much unusable, unless you were not fussy. I don't have the Mavic 2. But you can buy a new one for under $600. It is a small machine, much easier to transport than the P4, but perhaps not as tough. It's probably a little quieter, but I don't really think that's a factor for most people. Tough decision! Good Luck!
I love the Phantom 4. It's like driving a large luxury car compared to the smaller drones. Powerful, yet flies so smoothly. I had people complained because they heard it 300 hundred feet above their heads.
I mostly fly my smaller drones. I love the quietness and stealth of the drones. No one knows i'm around and I'd like that. Less people know, less bother, less complaints.
If you’re choosing between the two, the Phantom 4 has better camera quality and stability. Meanwhile, the Mavic Air 2 is more compact and has newer features. A good condition Phantom 4 might be a better value for $300-400. However, check the battery health and flight hours before buying.
