It seems like it wasn't really that long ago that DJI was in partnership with Go Pro. The Phantom 2 was a new product and it had a customized gimbal that you could exclusively put in a specific Go Pro model, the Hero 3 and Hero 4. Both of these cameras required their own gimbals and it seemed like a great deal of money anytime you chose to upgrade. Personally, I understood that point because anytime you are involved with cameras, you do have to be prepared to spend. Also, the very nature of technology is about upgrading. No doubt, this point is also enough to drive any budget conscious consumer crazy.

Flash forward to Hasselblad and DJI. It all started in October 2015 in which DJI bought a minor stake in Hasselblad and started collaborating on setups starting with DJI's M600 Drone and the Hasselblad A5D. This proved to be very beneficial for both companies. It was also recently announced by DJI to be a major investor in Hasselblad. Some photographers lamented the result of this partnership. Personally, I think this is a great idea. Hasselblad has a strong new camera but needed the financial backing. DJI is also a camera company that appreciates the workmanship that a Hasselblad can provide for it.

As Beatle John Lennon once sang, "Come Together." How did this partnership begin? What was Hasselblad's challenges?
