Looking at a used p3a that is on good shape but it has the old motors. Is that a deal killer?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a p3s now but it has the new motors. Wasn't sure if the old ones were a bust or not

Old style motors on left. They have square base and ridges on the top under where the prop mounts. Newer ones are round and smooth

What difference the motors have between the old one and the new one? Better performance?

Not a deal killer at all. A non factor IMHO.

As far as I know the 2312 motors are as just as reliable and work just as well as the later 2312a motors. The only thing is that if you ever need to replace a motor, then you will need to make sure that you get the correct version as the two versions are not interchangeable (without changing the whole motherboard). The motor shell mountings are also slightly different.

New earlier 2312 motors are still readily available now..For example: phantom 3 motor 2312 | eBay

There is no difference in performance. There are old threads here (somewhere) where people have compared them and found no differences performance-wise.
