I see the federal site wants 199 to register commercially but then I see other sites that say they can do the same for $15. Anyone provide some clarity?

Be aware there are many official looking "helper" (scam) sites that offer you registration for higher charges than the FAA.

Always deal directly with the FAA. For what you can pay for a lookalike website, you can do the same direct for free or for a fraction of the cost. Many of the 3rd party sites are doing their best to replicate their sites to look official, but don't fall for it.
