Battery cycles huge false increase?

I’m new to flying Phantoms and have made a few flights having read for days about everything and using the simulator a few times.
One thing I can’t find any information about is how the battery cycle count is calculated? My official battery had 17 cycles on it and I ran it down to 25% on one occasion, charged it fully then ran it down to 9% on the simulator and then charged it fully and the cycle count has now gone up to 25!?

So those 2 charges were counted as 8 for a reason I can’t work out. Could anyone shed any light on this?

That count should increment every time the battery is charged 100% of the way. For example, if you charge the battery from 50% to 100% two times in a row, the count should increment by one.
