Bag/Backpack for Phantom

I'm back at looking for backpacks again..

Anyone have any backpack ideas for Phantoms with the wide landing gears?

The Phantom is like three inches taller and the landing gear is about three inches wider as well.

well overpriced I would consider to buy it if it was in$60 range

which one are you talking about? The Vanguard?

If it is the Vanguard, I can assure you that it is worth the money. Very padded, enough room for extras and its pretty sturdy.
Aside from not having a custom fit like the cases, I think it does more than the cases (plus its on your back! :) )

I can also confirm the Vanguard Uprise II 48 is a great backpack for the phantom. It wouldn't work for taller landing gear I'm afraid but I'm very pleased with how I can arrange everything. I carry 2 extra batteries, charger, 8+ props, controller and tons of peripherals comfortably. It doesn't fit under a seat back but it fits fine in an overhead compartment of a plane. I've taken 2 flights and it's totally fine. I'm glad I got the backpack insteAd of the big hard case

I have theVanguard Uprise II 48 and I CAN fit my tall wide landing gears in it. I fly with both the backpack and a hard case. Hard case for carry on/gate check. Backpack for when I get to my destination and i'm filming. Some commuter planes don't even have enough room for a backpack so if it's gate checked I want it in a hard case.

Just got my fancier backpack/phantom pack. Came from uk to us in 7 days exactly!!!! Here's some pics full fpv gear all chargers and goggles in bag

I bought this folding cooler bag at Costco for about $20.

When unfolded, the bag is roughly 17x12x11 inches. A Phantom 2 with Gimbal fits inside. I plan to add cut-to-fit packing foam, which I haven't acquired yet. I'm checking to see if the Shipping Dept at work has any left-over.

Here is the cooler bag when opened up. It will take shape much better when I add foam inserts.

This bag is relatively light weight, has pouches, and may have a suitable take-off pad on top.

Low and behold, the original paperboard insert from the Phantom box fits nearly perfectly inside.

Here is the same with the Phantom. Note that as a matter of practice, I prefer to detach the blades to prevent distortion or damage.

After I find appropriate foam, I will likely replace the paperboard with foam inserts.

I just stumbled upon some interesting hard cases that could be adaptable for use with the Phantom. Monoprice.com has a Weatherproof Polypropylene Case with Customizable Foam - L18.86" x W16.34" x D8.54" for $86+ plus tax and shipping.

http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id= ... p_id=10622

Has anyone tried using this case?

For heavier duty travel situations, I might look at one of these instead of using the ice cooler. The depth of 8.54" doesn't leave a lot of room for cushioning.

I wish the toughcase guys would email me back about buying the replacement foam from them :( does anybody else sell the pre cut foam for their phantom cases?

I'm using my Tenba Roadie II HDSLR Backpack. It's a bit pricey at $299, but it has a great strap and belt system. Lots of pockets and places for storage. Here's some photos:

239$ ? for real ?
Just buy your own foam and backpack and DYI. It's a non sense selling cheap backpack with a piece of foam inside for that price.
I can buy that from China for less than 50$ (still overpriced for the materials but it's still a niche products).

Honestly, can someone explain to me why you all want these foam cases / bags? The Phantom isn't made out of cardboard. As I've said, I carry mine in my backpack, and just put some odd clothes around it, if I know that I'll be in for a rough ride.

I don't want it stuff flopping around in a bag and don't want to carry extra clothes.

I want a perfect fit... i want protection. I like to keep my stuff as new and scratch free as possible. My backpack only cost me 10% of my investment.

actually... hmmm... might be a good idea ... carry extra underwear... hmmmm....

nah... that means i have to use the clothes and mix with dirty laundry....
