So I traded a iPad mini 4 16 GB (valued at $240 used). For a phantom 1 and it was one of my best moves I have ever made ...soon as I took it home I started to do some mods.I'll be adding photos soon as I get home

1st mod was a fast one I swapped out the plain white body out with a p2 all black body from eBay $30

2nd was gimbal I mean whats a drone with out a camera I got this cheap Chinese one with the trade on eBay they are about $30. Comes with board and motors so I took the board out and I had a extra tarot gimbal I cut off the mounting arm and added the ring mount from the chinese gimbal and added it to the tarot with some 2 part epoxy the bracket is the same side as the blue motor housing so by doing this I can use the OEM landing gear and it still fits in my dji backpack the gimbal does not hit ground what so ever

3rd mod sense I got the phantom 2 shell I thought it would be nice to use a phantom 2 battery to make it look a lot cleaner so I got this battery pig tail off eBay for $8 the red goes to red and black goes to black the orange is not used in this case so I just disconnected it

4th is FPV I have a transmitter from eBay $30

5th I solder the red connecters to power gimbal straight to the aux power cables that come stock inside phantom 1 so I can use the phantom 2 battery I soldered 2 one for gimbal and one for fpv transmitter

All I need to do is more the fpv transmitter and that's where I'm stumped please let me know where you guys have yours remember I'm looking for a clean solution I'm trying to minimize the show of wires and chips

This is great I'm curious though to see your setup and how you minimize wires and cables, especially on the controller. I have been using my setup a few years now and while it is great I never liked having so many wires. I guess performance is always better than looks.

To add to the batch of mods i did for the Phantom 2 battery so I can use regular lipos in phantom 1.5 and have battery indicator and push button start at the same time

This is a great project hope you are having fun with it. I almost take out my phantom FC40 modded out every weekend its a blast to fly. Never got the gimbal to be completely jello free but it was close enough. Curious to see your end product and how it flies.
