I am going to San Diego for thanksgiving, and curious about taking my Phantom on the airplane. Would likely remove landing gear and camera so I can easily put in carry on, but don't want hassle from TSA. And not sure about batteries, put in checked bag or carry on also.

And then when there, how restricted is flight. Do you have to go to special parks? Any advice would be appreciated.

Batteries are allowed ONLY in carry on bag if they are fully protected.

This means:

1. Don't ever check them in
2. Better use Lipo safe bags for individual batteries
3. Discharge them to 60%
4. Some airlines ask to tape the contacts
5. Read the other requirements of airline. They vary from airline to airline.
6. Be gentle with the inspection staff, they have full authority to disallow on safety reasons. Keep the airlines check list with you.
