Was watching Code of the wild on Travel Channel about Dutch Schultz buried loot in upstate New York which has never been found and they had a guy with sensefly drone with lidar mapping at 600ft with tablet showing altitude if it was legal flight do you know how

It's called Waiver §107.51 and there have been at least 37 of them granted to date.

§ 107.51 – Operating limitations for Small Unmanned Aircraft
Fly a UAS:
  • Over 100 miles per hour groundspeed
  • Over 400 feet above ground level (AGL)
  • With less than 3 statute miles of visibility
  • Within 500 feet vertically or 2000 feet horizontally from clouds

LOL was only thinking of within 400ft of a structure to be able go above 400ft Totally forgot about waivers:oops:

It also wasn’t Lidar ! He was flying an ebee with a camera. Maybe they showed Lidar data after he flew it but that’s not what they showed collecting it. There is no ebee that can carry a Lidar system.

That flying wing thingy at 90 mph was really cool. It flew multiple tracks in a matter of minutes. The track was what showed up on their screen, but it definitely had lidar. It was the only thing in the air at the time, and it was built specifically for lidar missions. Very cool

It was a SenseFly Ebee. It was a camera. It definitely was not lidar.

‘Code of the Wild’ season 1 episode 6 minute 29. LIDAR built UAV. I know it’s only television but I have to believe that it’s true. Not the best lidar but good enough for the show. Just watched it again ‘on demand’. To each his own. Take care.

We are discussing episode 8 - the Dutch Shultz episode -which is what the OP posted about.
That’s the one. Episode 6 Dutch Shultz. At least that’s the one that shows on demand. Only goes to episode 7. I am clueless about winged UAVs. So I’m certainly not qualified discussing anything about them. Fly safe.
KO

They said lidar because they was looking for structures under vegetation now if sensefly isn't lidar capable that's something else
