I am a PC user and like to shoot in 3840 but when I shoot using Active Trac, Spotlight it switches to 4096 and I want to stop it from doing that. Any thoughts, ideas or best practices?

Cant say for certain, but I would venture to guess that it switches to 4096x2160 for a higher degree of pixel recognition during tracking. Just a guess and not sure you can change that.

I wouldn't worry about the switch. The vertical resolution is unchanged, and the horizontal resolution is higher, giving you an extra wide view, no longer 16:9. If you use post processing software with a 16:9 aspect ratio, it will crop off the edges to get to 3840.
