Zoom lense

Just wondering if DJI is considering a zoom lense on there camera's.

I have a P4 and can I change the camera too the Zenmuse Z3 or do I have too send it back too DJI too get it changed

I don't believe that will work on a P4. Looking at the information it states '* Currently supports the Inspire 1 series, Inspire 1 v2.0, Matrice 100 and Matrice 600.'

Google and you will find aftermarket lens assemblies that retrofit the P3 barrel to give you a more narrow FOV.

Optical zoom, to the extent it exists (I haven't seen one) would likely overload the gimbal (additional weight) and would need a piggy back control system to operate in flight.

I would bet that camera upgrades, including optical Zoom and non-fixed aperture, will be a part of upcoming Phantoms. I would guess that we'll eventually see a full-on point-and-shoot mounted to these things. It's the reason that I don't see the Mavic replacing the Phantom...the form factor of the Mavic doesn't have enough room or size to support the bigger/ heavier camera and gimbal.
