because that thing seems so cool and I'm really a gadget junkie. This hobby is so exilerating, that after just 30 flights, and having my p3s for only 2 weeks, I'm thinking i gotta have the Mavic. But, I have not even come close to earning my strips, so I'll wait.

I've had my P3S for 3 weeks now and like you I REALLY wanted to get a Mavic. Ultimately I got the P3S due to it being $600 cheaper. I've been flying RC planes and helicopters for the better part of 30 years but no quad experience other than a cheap micro. This is another reason I decided to go with the P3S. I wanted to get my feet wet in the bigger quad category to make sure I could justify spending the extra $$$ on the Mavic. I do see one in my future but it's still going to be a while. I also wanted to make sure any early production bugs were worked out before purchasing one. They do look SUPER COOL though and and I love the idea of the portability of the Mavic over the P3S.

Very true about waiting for bugs to be identified and worked out. But, yeah, portability is a big attraction for me also. Doesn't seem to be many folks flying them yet so who knows what kind of issues they'll have. I saw some YouTube reviews and some testers were pretty amazed.

I've got a P3P, when the Mavic came out it became a must-have, so I sold the kids into slavery.. I've has it three months now, and it goes everywhere with me. However, unless you travel a lot, or walk/hike/ramble, the candle is not really worth the light, so to speak. Don't get me wrong, it's a better device that the P3P, but I consider the P3P astonishingly good but the Mavic is a bit better again. No issues in maybe 40 hours flying, other than a battery cell dying, that DJI replaced reasonably quickly.

P3P offers a lot and the camera is a biggie. I wonder if my marriage would survive an aresenal of drones? And I'd never have time to workout again. Mine is really eating into my time at the gym.
