Why does my drone disconnect from my controller?

Phantom 3 standard, while using the flight simulator with props off the drone and controller will disconnect at random. tried running in garage without simulator and props off same thing. What would happen if I was flying?
Battery on drone and controller were half charged.

Just tested in garage instead of in the house, could this be interference?

I am also flying thrP3S and have not had the problem you describe. I have only used the simulator a few times though.
Question, do your motors start while using the simulator?
