Where to Fly in the Coachella Valley?

I know Palm Springs is a no fly zone due to the airport, but I have also read some of the local parks have banned drones. I'm curious if any of your know the best (or at least legal) places to fly within 30 minutes of Palm Springs. I'll be here for 10 days or so.

The city of Palm Springs itself does not pose any significant restrictions, they just refer to FAA guidelines and the Valley Parks and Recreation department postings don’t mention drones or UAV operation specifically.

However, Joshua Tree National Park and the Coachella Preserve ban all drones, as due the San Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument areas. Generally the San Bernardino National forest areas are ok, but specific municipalities (i.e. Big Bear), may have their own restrictions.
