So it would follow that when taking off from a lower altitude, service ceiling is effectively infinite and the limiting factor would be battery or possible RC range. I've never heard of someone climbing from sea level to above 8300' but aside from battery limitation, that should be possible. Is that right?I noticed very little difference at 8,300'.

I think he meant the service ceiling. 6000m ~19,000 feet
