Smooth water (as in a pond)acts like a mirror and reflects signal, I suspect that is your freak out moment. We fly over frozen lakes in the winter and if you're low enough our birds will do all kinds of interesting non plan manuevers.
As far as getting her back up & flying - dry out the shell and Naza with rice, wash the motors, ESCs and even the gimbal w/91% rubbing alcohol and let air dry. I've repaired a couple that have been submerged for over a day and they're flying now.
