VPS on my P3A

I've read to turn it off if flying low over water.
But what purpose does the down facing P3A VPS serve when flying outdoors over land?

None, really. It's really more for indoors. Just leave it off.

But what purpose does the down facing P3A VPS serve when flying outdoors over land?

It keeps the quad at a steady height when flying over land, the go app will show the height on the screen, i use it for low level speed flying over land.
it's max height is about 9ft anything over that the VPS doesn't work.
